Hanging Out

I forgot to update the blog after we went to Deegan's 6 week appointment over a week ago ... He is in the 90% for his height (obviously that does not come from the Schillinger side) and is in the 50% for his weight. Basically he is a spitting image of his father ... tall, skinny and handsome :) He has really been developing and is smiling at us and talks all the time to his animals.


We went on our third dinner outing the other night with Jackie, Tyler and the twins. Deegan did really well and only fussed when of course he had a wet diaper. I also think the twins did a great job to keep him clam by singing him the ABC's over and over. It was adorable and I think they will make great babysitters in the future!!!


Grandma Foo finally made it into town and she has been bonding with Deegan. She seems to have a calming effect on our little man and Eric and I have offered for her to move in with us :) She stands guard when he is sleeping, shoo's us away when he is awake and playing and always makes us change those dirty diapers. She definitely is reaping the benefits of being a great grandma.

The Princess and the Pea

We are living our own version of this classic fable, only ours is called Deegan and the Dirty Diaper. Like the original, our story too involves "P" but the other kind (Pee). Deegan hates a wet diaper and begins to cry as it comes out and refuses to sit in one. He will literally scream bloody murder until the diaper is off. We can easily go through 8-10 diapers in an hour (well hydrated) which is hurting our wallets! This wet diaper nonsense is hopefully a stage and not a lasting condition!

We had professional photo's of Deegan taken when he was 2 weeks old and we have a couple of sneak peaks. We will let you know when all the proofs come in!

We had a successful weekend as we got out of the house and made it up to the cabin. Surprisingly the drive went smooth. We timed it perfectly with his naps and he slept the entire way. If the drive had been any longer it could have been disastrous!

1st Fathers Day

Fathers day had a different feel this year because it was Eric's first Father's Day. He definitely deserved to have a wonderful day because he does so much for Deegan and I ... he is a good papa-bear and I could not be more grateful. We went to my mom's house to celebrate the afternoon with Grandpa Chris and then to my dads (Grandpa Juan) for the evening. Ironically we were all wearing the same color shirt so I thought it was a great time for a family photo. Above is 4 Generations of Schillingers (Heims). It is amazing that Deegan has 5 great grandparents!

We don't have much of an update for you ... our next Dr. Appointment is on the 29th. I am interested to see how tall Deegan is. The kid fits into newborn PJs in the arms and body but when it comes to the legs, they stop at his knees like capri's. We unofficially weighed him the other night and he was 9lbs and 15ozs ... he has gained 3lbs!!! CHUNK!

Hardest Job EVER!!!

I always thought it would be glorious to be a stay at home mom because it looked so easy ... I was freaking wrong! This could be the hardest job I have ever had! This makes work seem like a cake-walk. Some days I look at Eric and get jealous that he has a mental break where-as I have to be on 24/7 (literally). Don't get me wrong, this is the greatest, most rewarding job in the world and if I could I would stay home with my kids but it is a job with no mandatory labor breaks. These days "my-time" is a shower and I only seem to get those in every other day if I am lucky. I know that sounds gross but really its not because I sit on the couch all day watching my baby, watching TV and changing diapers. There is not much going on that I get dirty doing!

We have had a lot of visitors lately which is welcomed because it gives me motivation to get dressed and I have something to look forward to.

Garin and Coley came to visit us while in town planning for the up-coming wedding. Garin is one of Eric's best friends from Kansas for those who don't know and he even sang at our wedding. Funny story: about a year and a half ago we were visiting them in Kansas and Coley asked when we were having kids and I jokingly said "when you get engaged" ... Well the weekend they got engaged was actually the weekend we found out that we were expecting! That could not have been better timed!!!

Long Days are Short; Short Days are Long?

These are the shortest-longest days of our lives! The days and nights are running together and we are in shock that little D-Man will be 3 weeks old tomorrow!!! Nothing too exciting has happened lately ... Deegan has just been "waking" up a lot more and will be up for hours vs minutes between feedings. This is a good and bad thing: good because he is more interactive but bad at 5:00am.

Bri came over with Jamieson to visit Deegan and I this morning. We had to laugh because little D-Man's foot is about 1/4" smaller then hers and she is 5 months older than him ... If people are anything like Puppies... he is going to be a monster!!!
